Sam Dental is the best Mexico Dental Care provider

If you’re thinking of getting high quality dental care in Mexico for a fraction of the cost that US dentists usually charge, make Sam Dental your trusted partner. We are a group of highly competent, highly skilled, and professional dentists specializing in all sorts of dental services and procedures. We offer personalized and attentive service that you won’t simply get anywhere else.

For appointment or for instructions on how to get to our clinic from the border, please feel free to call or email us and we will provide you with comprehensive instruction. You can also click the link for the map.

You can find us just south of the San Diego border. The fastest and most convenient way to reach us from the border is by driving across, and following the instructions on the page “driving Instruction”. However, for your convenience, we offer free pick up services from the border, which is just 15 blocks away from our office.

Should you decide to take the taxi, the charge is $4-$6 and the ride is just 5 minutes. To avoid the risk of miscommunication with the taxi driver, simply write our address above and give it to him. Tell the drive to take you to the “Office Depot” in Zona Rio. We are in the tall building across the side street. (There is a sign at the top of our 9 story building that says “Nextel”, and there is a “Banamex” on the bottom floor off the sidewalk).

Factors to Consider in finding the best dental care in Mexico

Price – It’s a given fact that dental care in Mexico is significantly lower compared to the same services offered in the United States. And the reason is not because the services here in Mexico are of low standard or that the materials used for dental procedures are of low quality. It’s because the cost of living in Mexico is much lower compared to the US. Also, Mexican dentists do not usually graduate with thousands of dollars to pay for their student loans unlike their American counterparts. Because of this, they can afford to charge up to 75% lower. However, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t compare prices when looking for the best dental care providers in Mexico. Truth be told, there are Mexican dentists who charge more than the on-going rate. If you want to take advantage of the lowest prices but would still want to get American quality dental services, Sam Dental is your best dental partner. Unlike other Tijuana dental clinics, we do not have different prices for American and Mexican clients. That is why, we publish our rates on our website. This gives you an assurance that you will not be overcharged.

Location – Mexico is such a big country and choosing the place where you’ll get your dental work done is extremely important. Tijuana is very close to San Diego that you wouldn’t feel like you’ve left the United States. It’s also very close to the beach and it is the home to some of Mexico’s most amazing hotels. This is extremely important if you have to stay in Tijuana for a couple of days. This location gives you some things to see and do so you will not just get inexpensive dental work done but you’ll have great vacation as well. Transportation and Lodging – If you’re staying in Mexico for a couple of days, transportation and lodging are some of the things that you should seriously consider. You have the option to book a hotel in San Diego and rent a car to go to Tijuana. Some hotels that I can recommend are the ones in Chula Vista off of E Street. They are clean and inexpensive. Should you decide to stay in Tijuana, you can find nice hotels within the vicinity that are far less inexpensive compared to those found in San Diego. Here at Sam Dental, we provide a list of hotels that you can stay in that will offer you great value for your money. Also, we will provide you with itinerary to make your stay worthwhile.

Time Required – Before you to go Tijuana to get dental procedures done, it is important that you know how much time you need to spend in Mexico until the procedures are completed. For example, if you require root canals and crowns, you may need to stay for 2-5 days. This is something that you need to anticipate especially if you’re from other city other than San Diego because this would mean staying in Tijuana until the procedure are done. Just give us a call and we can tell you approximately how much time it will take to get the work finished. This will affect your budget as you’ll need to pay for accommodation, food, and transportation. But did you know that most of our patients are going on a dental Mexico vacation? After getting the required procedures done, they explore the place to have a great time. Here at Sam Dental, we can provide you with comprehensive itinerary on what to see and do while you’re in the country to make sure that you’ll have the best time of your life.

Required Documents –Whether you’re staying in Tijuana for one day or a month, you will need to carry proof of US citizenship (driver’s license, birth certification, or US passport) as this will be required upon your return from your dentist in Tijuana, Mexico. However, you don’t need special documents when entering Mexico if you’re staying for a short time. Should you decide to stay for an extended period, perhaps to take advantage of dental Mexico vacation or to explore beyond Ensenada, you will be required to get a tourist card.

Budget –Money is obviously a big factor to consider when going to Tijuana to get dental procedures done. We prefer that payment with either with Bank money orders, travelers check or cash, and can give a 5% discount. However, we can accept payments with a Mastercard, or Visa. You can also use your Paypal account to make a transfer of funds. You can use your credit card to pay for restaurants and hotels, but in smaller restaurants, and taxis, you will need cash.

New Border Crossing Regulations:

1.- You must now have a US passport to cross the border:

Just like the US Government requires everyone crossing the border into the US to have passports, the Mexican Government also now requires all persons crossing into Mexico to have a passport. Things have historically been a little lax, but now they are tightening up on the regulations. Make sure you get your passport before crossing into Mexico, to avoid any delays or hassle, by the US Customs, as well as Mexican Customs.

If you haven’t yet gotten a US Passport, we strongly recommend that you get the “Passport Card”, rather than the “Passport Book”. You can actually apply for both, or either one. But the reason the Passport Card works better than the Book, is because it has the RFID electronic chip, which qualifies you to use the faster moving “Ready Lanes” either as a pedestrian or riding in a car. Here is a link to the government website:

2.- You will need to get a Tourist Visa at the border:

Pedestrian Crossing: If leave your car parked at the border, and are walking into Mexico, you will need to present your US passport, and fill out a tourist permit form. It will just take 5 minutes. However, make sure you keep your tourist permit on your person. In case you are stopped in Mexico for any reason, you will now have proof that you entered into the country legally. The cost of a tourist permit, to visit Tijuana for a week, is free. But, if you plan to stay for more than a week, plan to return for a second trip, or are thinking of going on to Rosarito or Ensenada, you will need to get the 180 day permit, costing $25.

Crossing the border by car: If you are stopped in Tijuana, you will need to show that you have legally crossed the border. So, even though you could just drive through Mexican Customs, and they don’t ask you for any documents, don’t neglect to first stop and get your tourist permit. The process will just take a few minutes.

When you first cross into Mexico, do NOT get into the lines of cars that are going through the lanes through for inspection. Rather, keep to the right, and go straight ahead to the area for Voluntary Declaration. Most of the cars going in here, and parking, are stopping to declare products that they purchased in the US, so they can pay the “Importation Tax”. But this is the same area where you will find the “Immigration” office, in order to get your tourist permit. Just park your car next to the others, and go into the building. Inside you will find the Immigration office, and tell them you want a tourist permit. It will be easiest if you just tell them you are coming to visit and shop, otherwise they will ask you for the exact address of the clinic, and hotel address where you are staying. Just a little less hassle.
